A New Path for Mental Health Support
Experience Points uses games like tabletop role playing, board games, and collaborative computer play to create meaningful therapeutic engagement for youth and adults. Our approach meets clients where they feel comfortable, and helps them build confidence, coping strategies, and social connections.
We focus on prevention, early intervention, and supporting individuals who may struggle with traditional talktherapy environments.
Why Gaming Works in Therapy
Games create a familiar, low-pressure space where clients can explore challenges safely. Our approach draws on established therapeutic frameworks and adapts them into game-based systems.
How the model works:
- Treatment plans mirror character sheets
- Real-world goals translate into measurable “stats” (Strength, Wisdom, Charisma)
- Progress earns “level-ups,” rewards, and meaningful milestones
- Structured gameplay encourages problem-solving, emotional regulation, and prosocial behavior
- Counselors guide the experience— never the game alone
This method lowers resistance, increases engagement, and helps clients visualize growth over time. (References derived from internal
materials: the “gamified treatment plan,” gamer assessment inventory, and use of Minecraft and tabletop RPGs)
